Frequently Asked Questions
What is TRAP?
TRAP is a viennese collective that runs a huge and incredibly beautiful multi purpose hall, dedicated foremostly but not only to contemporary circus. We are on the premises of the SchloR project, we're self-organized and strictly non-profit. Within the organizational team we work almost entirely without financial remuneration. We are giving our best to make TRAP a welcoming space for the circus community and invite you to bring in your ideas and initiatives. Learn more about the hall and us HERE.
How can I reserve a timeslot or come training?
TRAP has three spaces with different ceiling heights that can be reserved exclusively or be shared with others during open training times.
Book exclusively
You can reserve a part of the hall exclusively for your training session or for workshops or other uses, where you need the space to yourself. The following rooms are available:
- Full hall (Hall A+B)
- Half hall (Hall A = the back part of the hall)
- Studio
- Gallery
You can either book them hourly, for half a day or for a full day.

Open Training Passes
If you own a daily, weekly, monthly or yearly open training pass you can use the hall from Monday to Friday, 8.00am – 2pm (guaranteed). Exceptions to the guaranteed slots may occur very few times a year; this will be communicated at least three months in advance via Social Media and the blackboard in the Foyer.
All other times with free slots are open to free training, too; they might be reserved exclusively and thus blocked on short notice though. So please check the hall calendar before coming at busy hours!
People who enter TRAP for the open training have to sign into a attendance form in the entrance hall with their names (first name is enough) as well as arrival and departure time so we can keep track. Thank you!
Aerial artists have to participate in the aerial safety introduction before training at TRAP - see info below.
Follow this link to get your open training pass.
How to train aerials at TRAP?
Aerial training is only allowed after completing an introduction to the hall's equipment. Usually, these introductions take place once a month and are conducted by Amina from the TRAP team. We will announce the coming dates on our home page. You may also contact Amina directly to schedule your session: [email protected]
After having attended the intro, aerial artists (when coming for open training) are asked to check the respective box in the attendance list at the hall entrance. This is important for liability reasons and so we can keep track and make sure everybody trains safely and knows how to use TRAP's rigging infrastructure.
Where can I store my stuff?
You can only store your props between your trainings if you are a holder of a annual open training pass.
Please contact us beforehand at [email protected] and tell us what and which size your prop is, and where you intend to store it. If we have sufficient capabilities, you need to label your stuff with your name and the expiry date of your open training pass. We will kindly dispose of stuff that expired the owner's training pass expiration date. Since we do not accept any liability for the stored props, make sure to put them away safely and without taking up training space. We will inform you about big events and other things that may interfere with your stored props in this Signal information channel - make sure to join it; it's in your props' best interest <3
Can I park my car?
There is no car parking in front of the hall. You can drive directly to the entrance to load / unload, but you have to park your car elsewhere while training/workshops. During the week all parking in the area is paid, it is 2,60€ per hour if you use the short-term parking next to the street (where usually is space). The cheapest parking is near S-Bahn station Simmering at Kobelgasse 3 for 6€ per day.
On weekends parking in the surrounding streets is free!
How can I connect with others or find training partners?
As TRAP is a self-organized community space, you best come by and talk to people hanging out in the Foyer or training inside the hall. However, if you'd like to get in touch beforehand or want to find training partners (aerials cannot be trained alone, see above and our terms and conditions) -> join this open Signal group to connect with other TRAP regulars or share/receive TRAP related content.
